SF Girl Scouts - Outings, Travel & Adventure
Girl Scouts Northern California's definition of a Girl Scout Trip is any time a troop has an activity at a location other than their regularly scheduled meeting place.
This means everything from Day Trips & Camp Outs to Big Trips & High Adventure need to be approved by GS Norcal before you go.

Approval Tips & Tricks
Council has no guaranteed approval lead time. Do your part to help by allowing a minimum of 2 weeks lead time for approval of a completed form. Incomplete submissions will extend the review & approval process. Common reasons for delayed approvals:
-
Troop First Aiders have expired certifications or have not completed the GSNorcal Troop First Aider course.
-
Safetywise / Chaperones who do not have a current GSNorcal membership or have not completed the background check. Membership and background checks are both required to be a Troop Driver, First Aider, or to be included in the adult-to-girl ratios.
-
Rosters Blank rosters are submitted, or Troop Leaders submit a roster they have created themselves. Download and save the roster document provided by Council before entering your troop information.
-
Unapproved Vendors Troops have the option to choose vendors that are not yet approved. However that will add extra time for Council to do a review and approve the new vendor. This can add several weeks to the approval process, and depends on how quickly the vendor responds to GSNorcal's inquiries & interactions with the vendor.
-
Approval The trip is not approved until you have received an approval email from GSNorcal's travel team. Do not assume the trip is approved if you have not heard back from Council.
San Francisco Service Unit Travel Support
Our troops have travelled the globe, and we can help you prepare for an amazing adventure too! Council is always willing to help answer your questions, but if you'd like help from someone closer to home, we now have an SFSU Travel Adviser to help you with planning insights, advice, support, or if you haven't heard back from Council on your inquiries.
